Organisers eye a fundraising record as the Franklins £50 Challenge nears completion

SCALING the heights towards a record fundraising total is Mandy Colby, community development officer at CommSave Credit Union.

She is about to begin her abseil down the Northampton Lift Tower as part of the Franklins £50 Challenge.

CommSave Credit Union is one of 41 teams taking part in the Franklins £50 Challenge, in which the regional law firm asks the county’s businesses to use their commercial acumen to raise money for four Northamptonshire charities.

The challenge, which also involves teams from the Milton Keynes area, has raised more than £10,000 so far and Franklins are hopeful of beating last year’s record fundraising total of £20,000.

Andrea Smith.

Franklins partner and head of business services Andrea Smith said: “This year’s teams have really put their entrepreneurial skills to the test and come up with so many creative ways to raise money for local charities. The aim of this year’s challenge is to fight hunger, fuel wellness and change local lives and with so much money already raised we hope to bring about positive change throughout Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes.”

Since it began in 2018, the Franklins £50 Challenge has raised more than £100,000 for local charities. The eight charities benefiting from this year’s challenge are, in Northamptonshire, Cynthia Spencer Hospice, the Northampton Hope Centre, The Lewis Foundation and Northamptonshire Community Foundation.

Companies across Milton Keynes are raising money for Willen Hospice, MK Act, Harry’s Rainbow and YMCA – MK.

The 2024 challenge ends on May 24.
