IMPRESSIVE tiling can be the perfect finishing touch to a building or refurbishment, but the right flooring involves so much more than something that simply looks good.

The team at Bedrock Tiles in Northampton work closely with designers, architects, builders and property developers to not only supply tiles ranging from functional to stunning, but to back that up with expert advice.

Specialising in eco-tiles sourced from within the EU, most between 25 percent or 50 percent recycled content, but also including a range that is 100 per cent recycled, Bedrock Tiles has worked on projects across the UK and Europe in the commercial, leisure, retail, education and residential sectors.

Pete Brown founded the company four years ago to focus on the supply of tiles from sustainable sources. His team can also advise on tiling features that look good, but offer high levels of safety in terms of slip-resistance and meeting DDA Part M regulations that ensure tiled areas are clearly defined and properly laid out to avoid confusing those with disabilities or sight problems.

“We supply mainly to the commercial sector, where there are many factors to take into consideration as well as aesthetics,” said Pete. “Floors that are slippery or uneven are dangerous and can lead to accidents that result in clients or members of staff being injured, so potentially costing the company money.

“Most of the time, we work with architects or builders on new builds, fit outs or refurbishments and there’s a need these days to use sustainable building materials. I care about the environment and am keen to promote eco-tiles that help towards a building’s improved carbon footprint, and I didn’t think the industry was working hard enough to do that.

“Our tiles offer impressive results but with quality, safety and the environment high on the list of priorities.”
