Solicitors honoured for helping secure vital funds

WILSON Browne Solicitors on Venture Park in Kettering has been recognised by Cancer Research UK after facilitating over £698,000 worth of gifts from people choosing to leave a legacy to the charity in their Free Will Service.

The firm as a whole, has helped secure close to £3.2m for the cause.

Neelam Maher, Partner & Head of Private Client, and other members of the team at Wilson Browne Solicitors were presented with a silver certificate to acknowledge the firm’s ongoing support. The firm has been offering the Free Will Service to people aged 55 and over in Kettering and surrounding area for the past 20 years, giving advice and support to those wishing to write a will or update an existing one.

The charity receives no government funding for its research and relies heavily on the generosity of people leaving gifts in their wills. Over a third of its research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer is funded through supporters leaving a legacy to the charity.

Neelam Maher, Head of the Wills and Trusts team said: “We are thrilled at the amount of money we have been able to secure for Cancer Research UK, via the generosity of our clients, who make bequests (gifts) in their will. We encourage everyone to make the small investment needed to have a professionally written will produced by a qualified, regulated solicitor.”
