TIMKEN Rail Services employees have raised £2,336 for Cynthia Spencer Hospice following a year of dedicated fundraising after choosing the hospice as their charity of the year in 2018.
Timken has just 57 employees at its Northampton branch, at Barn Way, but the team took on tuck shops, sweepstakes, an Easter raffle, a BBQ and red tag auctions to raise over £2,000 for the local Hospice.
Chelsea Galpin, corporate partnerships fundraiser at Cynthia Spencer Hospice, said: “Timken Rail Services has raised a huge amount of money from a relatively small team, showing how much Cynthia Spencer Hospice means to the employees. A huge thank you to all of the employees who voted for Cynthia Spencer as the charity of the year, without the support of local businesses we couldn’t continue all the fantastic work that goes on both within the Hospice and out in the community that makes such a difference to our patients and their families’ lives.”
Edward McNeill, plant manager at Timken Rail Services, said: “I am proud of all of our staff’s support and efforts in raising funds over the past year. We at TRS are happy to contribute to such a worthwhile cause that brings help and care to people in our community in their time of need.”
Timken designs, manufactures, assembles and refurbishes bearings and related parts primarily for the rail industry. Timken is a world-leading manufacturer of bearings and mechanical power transmission products and employs more than 17,000 people globally, operating in 35 countries. Although an international company, Timken has a strong history within Northamptonshire which dates back decades.
Presenting a cheque at the Northampton branch, Chelsea was able to thank employees personally and talk about how the donations can be spent within the Hospice.
