The perfect fit

THERE is something special about wearing a made-to-measure suit created by tailor Dean Anderson at Saint Crispin Bespoke Menswear.

The appointment-only service ensures that each client can expect the personal attention of the tailor who has nearly 30 years’ experience in creating beautifully crafted made-to-measure clothes.

Many clients will visit the tailor’s stylish shop at Saint Crispin Retail Village at Duston, while others prefer an appointment at their office or home, where Dean can add style to their wardrobe.

For some this could be a suit for one of life’s landmark events like a wedding, celebration or awards ceremony and, better still, that suit in the wardrobe that just fits so well. Others will be looking for clothes like a casual shirt or even a pair of jeans or chinos simply for day-to-day wear in the office or at home.

Dean said: “Most clients will come through a recommendation or will do their research before making an appointment. Some will have had a bad experience going down the hire route or struggle to find clothes that not only look stylish but fit their personal measurements.

“At their appointment we will talk through what fabrics and styles they might like but there is no need to know all the ins and outs of bespoke tailoring. Through talking with each client, I can use my experience to guide them to fabrics, styles that offer a personal solution.”

Full measurements are taken and about five or six weeks later, earlier if required, the client will return for a final fitting of their tailor-made suit, shirt or casual pair of trousers.

Dean has clients from all walks of life. Customers often remark about how ‘The finishing touches and attention to detail are important, from the design of a button to a contrasting colour finish on a buttonhole or choice of lining.’

While costs may deter some clients, there are many more have discovered the value of made-to-measure clothes. Prices for a shirt, for example, start from £110 and a tailored suit starts from £595 and regular clients appreciate being able to create capsule wardrobes with pieces working together.

“Our clothes are made to last and anyone who has worn a suit that is made-to-measure will understand just how special it can feel,” said Dean. “My customers often remark we are one of Northampton’s best kept secrets but hope more people will experience what we can offer.”
