Three year sponsorship confirmed

The Haines Watts offices in Kettering and Northampton are delighted to announce that they have agreed a three year sponsorship deal with local cricket club.

The Haines Watts offices in Kettering and Northampton are delighted to announce that they have agreed a three year sponsorship deal with local cricket club. Loddington & Mawsley, a community club based in the picturesque village of Loddington, midway between Kettering and Rothwell.

The original club was founded in Loddington over 120 years ago and has been through a number of reincarnations before reaching its current status when it amalgamated with Mawsley CC in 2009.

After a massive fundraising effort by the club in 2001 and a successful lottery grant application, a new pavilion was built.  The club has also improved the facilities over the years with new practice nets, a bowling machine, and has just received a further grant to purchase replacement covers.

Central to the club’s ethos is its youth policy that was introduced in the mid-90s, which has seen a large number of players come through the ranks and join the current first XI who, with an average age of 22, play in Division 1 of the Northants County League.

Alongside the first XI, the club’s 2nd X1 play in Division 7 of the Northants County League and they also run successful U9s, U11s, U13s, U15s and U17s sides.

Iain Holliday, Club Secretary commented:- “We have a number of aims to drive the success of the club going forward.

We will continue to work with schools and after-school clubs to coach children who will be the future of the club.  As soon as a youth player is deemed good enough, they are introduced to senior cricket.  This strategy has paid dividends over the years, with some very good youngsters coming through the club’s youth sides to play regularly for the adult side.

We are working hard to keep our 1st team at its current standard, and also trying to improve the 2nd team to enable it to better support the 1st team.

We would also like to increase numbers with a view to starting a third team in the next 2-3 years. This will be achieved by continued schools’ coaching, improving facilities and keeping our match fees and annual subscriptions lower than the competition to attract players from other clubs and those moving into the area to come and play for the club.

Support from the community and local businesses is key to our ability to continue to make improvements to the club and we’re delighted that Haines Watts have agreed to help us in this process.”

Chris Timms, Regional Managing Partner for Haines Watts East, which includes the Kettering and Northampton offices added:-

“Here at Haines Watts, we are keen to support young, talent in a local, community-based environment.  Our two offices in South Bedfordshire already have a sponsorship deal with the first XV and U11s youth team at Ampthill Rugby Club so we were keen to extend that support to a similarly-minded sports facility in Northamptonshire.  The aims and ambitions of Loddington & Mawsley CC closely match our own internal development programmes so it was a natural fit.

The opportunity to see a bit of first-class cricket on a sunny afternoon and challenge one of the club’s teams to a ‘friendly’ was also too good an opportunity to pass up!”
