Transfer to a growing team

ONLY five years after it was established to advise on pensions and related financial matters, The Pension House Company Ltd is launching its own training programme to develop the financial planners of the future.

Founded by Jane Stevens, The Pension House is looking to recruit three new members of staff. That will include an experienced para planner and two trainees to shadow both the new recruit and Laura Hutchings, who has been with the firm for three years and is about to complete her training and become a qualified financial adviser.

Based in a rural location near Duston, The Pension House are pension transfer specialists, providing advice on all aspects of pensions including defined benefits. In particular, advising those people approaching retirement age who aren’t sure which course of action to take with regard to their pension arrangements; helping them identify the best way to plan for their later years.

Over the past couple of years, The Pension House has also built an excellent relationship with companies looking to engage staff with their company pensions under the auto-enrolment scheme.

Jane Stevens said: “Financial planning is a male-dominated sector and I felt that the best way for me to grow my career was to set up my own company and run the business the way I felt it should be done – so in 2013 I opened The Pension House Company Ltd.

“Within a couple of years, I needed some extra help and Laura joined me as an administrator with a view to train as a para planner. For me, the best way to make sure you get people with the same outlook and approach is to train them yourself, and so now that she’s almost qualified, and the workload is growing, it’s time to take on some new people. We’re actively recruiting for an experienced para planner and two trainees who we will see through their training and stay with us and help the company grow.”

The Pension House strives to give clear and uncomplicated advice, exploring all options before outlining the best way for a client to put their pension savings to the best use.

“That’s what we enjoy doing most, ensuring clients get the most benefit from the pension plans,” said Jane. “We identify the things that are going to be important to them in their retirement and help them find ways to make their plans work and give them security.

“It’s important to us that the advice is clear, that we’ve considered all the options and found the best for them. We explain things in a way that is understood, because we want clients to be able to explain to their families why our recommendation is the best possible course of action for them.”
