Trustee joins charity

A CHARTERED accountant and registered auditor is the latest trustee to join the board at award-winning Northamptonshire charity and social enterprise, Teamwork Trust.

David Owens is a partner at Hawsons Chartered Accountants in Northampton and has over 10 years’ worth of professional experience. He jumped at the chance to become a trustee for Teamwork Trust, which supports adults with mental health needs, learning and physical disabilities, after seeing the excellent work that everyone involved in the organisation does.

David, who lives in Kettering, said: “I first heard about Teamwork Trust and its three Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough centres when I was asked to present at the charity’s AGM in 2017. I was taken aback by the level of engagement and enthusiasm from the staff, volunteers, service users and members at that presentation so I quickly arranged a visit to the Kettering centre soon after, and was able to see first-hand the fantastic work that everyone does.”

As a family man, keen sportsman, marathon runner and gym enthusiast in his spare time, David was struck by the shared focus and camaraderie throughout the organisation.

“The enthusiasm that everyone at Teamwork Trust brings to the table is infectious and I love that.” he said “I have been involved with and advised various charities at different levels over the years and, along with my accountancy practice experience as a registered auditor, I will be able to assist in putting sufficient controls in place to safeguard the charity’s assets.”

David is excited about Teamwork Trust’s rapid growth and bright future. He added: “Teamwork Trust is a well-run charity with a really fantastic profile and big plans. I’m hoping to help continue to build on the great work so far so that Teamwork Trust can grow even further.”

John Bruce, Teamwork Trust’s strategic director said: “We are delighted to welcome David to the board of trustees and we confident that the wealth of professional experience he will bring will really help Teamwork Trust become even better prepared for the future. David clearly shares our charity’s passion and commitment to giving adults with learning difficulties, physical and sensory disabilities access to the same chances, choices and opportunities as others. We are looking forward to some busy and exciting times ahead.”
