Volunteers are made up to have helped

ASSOCIATES from Avon’s UK head office in Northampton got together recently to lend their skills at Cynthia Spencer Hospice’s Donation Station in Moulton Park and help generate income to support patient and family care throughout the county.

Avon’s finance team was split into groups to focus on different areas of income generation, from processing donated items for sale in Cynthia Spencer Hospice’s three retail shops in Northampton and assessing, photographing and listing higher value items for sale online. They also lent their creative skills to making festive hampers which are popular with Hospice supporters for Christmas raffles and also preparing pitstop signage for the Hospice’s Cycle4Cynthia fundraising cycle ride which took place on 23rd September.

Samantha Hutchison, executive director of finance at Avon said, “I am hugely impressed by the passionate professionalism of the Cynthia Spencer team and all the work they do to keep the hospice running – they are an inspiration to us all!

“The Avon finance team all thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to take part in the varied activities whilst also supporting such a great cause. An experience I would recommend to all companies looking to build their teams whilst supporting a worthy cause.”

Chelsea Galpin, corporate partnerships fundraiser at Cynthia Spencer Hospice said, “It was fantastic to have the team from Avon with us at our Donation Station. The energy and enthusiasm each person gave to their volunteering roles was brilliant and everyone had a great ‘hands-on’ attitude throughout.

“The Donation Station is the perfect place for businesses to come for a volunteering day. Much of our fundraising is generated from this building so it’s vitally important we get large teams in regularly to help. As the work is very varied it allows staff to have fun and be creative, learn new skills and really engage with the work of the Hospice so they understand how their hard work is helping our patients and their families live life to the full, now and in the future.”

If any businesses are looking to hold a team-building day by volunteering at Cynthia Spencer’s Donation Station they can call Chelsea on 01604 973348 or email
