WHEN there’s so much menu choice on offer – a little bit of everything you fancy is always a good way to go.

Following the success of their town centre Italian restaurant Papa Cino’s, Stewart ansd Sophie Wright opened Nuovo on Abington Street in December, introducing cicchetti to Northampton.

Cicchetti means small plates and is similar to Spanish tapas and Greek mezze dishes, and diners can choose as few or as many dishes from the range as they like. There’s also a full grill menu, for those looking for something more substantial.

Stewart, who made his name not only through the excellent food on offer at Papa Cino’s but also through the restaurant’s regular music nights, events and networking events, said: “Cicchetti is a Venetian style similar to Spanish tapas and it’s the perfect opportunity to try something new and different. It’s becoming very popular in the cities and we thought it would go down well in Northampton.

“We have a fantastic location at the top of Abington Street, where there is a good footfall and parking, but we’re set back a little so we have a beautiful courtyard area at the front away from the bustle of town.

“People come in for a meal or cicchetti at lunchtime or for dinner, but we’re also just as happy to see them for a coffee and maybe a dessert as a pleasant change to the high street coffee shops. We have wifi, so they can catch up on emails and work if they want to while they are here.”

Regular music events will be held at the restaurant, including Grazin’ on an Easter Sunday with music by Anna-Maria Whitaker, and the regular networking events that have been held at Papa Cino’s, in Dychurch Lane, for some time, have moved to Nuovo. There’s also a function room suitable for meetings or training sessions, and catering can be provided.

Nuovo is at 104 Abington Street, Northampton, telephone 01604 601100 or visit the website www.nuovo-restaurant.co.uk
