Launching on 1 October, the Corby-based firm will be inviting students across the UK to design a new product entirely from foam, in addition to using other materials such as fabric, plastic and wood.

Alternatively, they could design a foam component for use in another product.

Designed to encourage and help UK students discover their creative flair, the contestants will have just over three months to generate and submit their final concept before the closing date of 6 January 2016.

Entrants will be shortlisted to pitch their ideas to a TFS judging panel in February and the overall winner will be announced on 16 April where they will receive a prize of £2,000 to invest in their product’s development and marketing.

TFS joint managing director Duncan Geddes said: “As an advocate for supporting up and coming entrepreneurs I feel extremely passionate about giving the next generation the opportunity to showcase their originality.

“In addition I hope the competition will demonstrate the versatility of foam when it comes to designing products.”

Once the winner is announced, TFS will work alongside the student by giving them extra guidance with the manufacturing of prototypes, packaging design and establishing a marketing plan to get the product launched in front of potential customers.

Geddes added: “We want to work with the winning student every step of the way to ensure they have the best possible chance of seeing their product come to life.

“I hope with our support and expertise the winner will gain invaluable commercial experience that will help them in their future career.”
