Spectators can watch the karting from the centrally heated spectator area, which keeps visitors cosy in the winter, while there is plenty of shade in the summer from both the sun and the lovely British rain as they soak up the racing atmosphere.
Safety is a priority across the circuit. After under-16s have been signed in by a responsible adult and over 16s signing for themselves, all drivers undergo clear safety briefings before taking part and are provided with safety wear such as race suits, helmets, rib protectors and neck braces.
With health and hygiene in mind, all Northampton Indoor Karting helmets have a balaclava-only policy which means that the helmets are kept to a very high standard. The fact that the circuit have CRB clearance and first aid trained staff on site at all times gives a greater peace of mind.
Northampton Indoor Karting has made some major improvements inside and outside the building over the past few months. The Biz Evo200cc Karts for the adults and Biz Evo120cc Karts for the children have all had the engine timings done to bring the karts in line with each other to ensure a fair race is given, especially for the more competitive racing drivers.
For those over 16 years there are Sprint Events (max 10 drivers), Team Endurances (min 12 drivers), Grand Prix (min 20 drivers), Stag or Hen Dos, Singapore Night Races (Over 18’s), Charity 50:50 Races and Open Grand Prix for individuals every last Sunday of the month and much more.
Youngsters, eight years plus, can start training in the Wednesday Junior Club, have an exclusive birthday party, or, in the school holidays, there is Adventure Days that run from 9am until 2.30pm, where parents can leave them and carry on their working day.
With new activities on their way by the summer 2014 it is hoped to cater for the slighter younger group that are champing at the bit to get on the karting arena.
