One customer’s comment to Karl Brocklehurst, director of Westbridge Motors (N’pton) Ltd, which owns and operates the Washme Jet Wash Centre, on St James Road, Northampton.
The Jet Wash Centre is a state-of-the-art self-service facility with six individual bays, one of which can take high top vans and caravans due to its increased height. The other five bays are under cover, each with its own touch screen controls, full bay lighting, and underfloor heating.
This means that vehicles can be washed at any time of day or night, whatever the weather. The Washme Jet Wash Centre is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Managing director Nick Brocklehurst first saw the concept at a friend’s site in Kent and instantly liked it. “We could not financially compete with the hand carwashes using our old carwash system and site as it was,” he says. “We responsibly dispose of the waste water, have the correct insurance, employ only legal staff and pay them a fair wage.
“The very low unrealistic prices some hand carwashes were charging made it unviable”
That’s why the new Washme Jet Wash Centre was designed and built. Customers clean their vehicles themselves, on a BUY TIME basis using hot water and top-quality chemicals. All the water is filtered and there is a spot-free rinse as well. Payment is by contactless card or mobile device, or a mobile app.
£2 buys four minutes of wash time but currently customers opting for the READY2WASH app receive an extra 30 per cent wash time.
“We see a wide range of customers and vehicles – cars, vans, motorhomes, motorbikes, even bicycles,” says Karl. “We even have customers from Milton Keynes who make a special journey just to use our site which is a great sign.
“We are constantly cleaning and ensuring the lances and brushes are in working order. It’s so important to us – we believe a clean site gives customers confidence in our offer.”
