Five tips to design a perfect display

EXPERTS in banner and exhibition stand design, Marler Haley design displays on a daily basis and know what works and what doesn’t.

Displays play a pivotal role in exhibitions and events to draw attention, to add branding to your stand and to reinforce your brand messages, but designing the perfect display isn’t always easy.

Here are five tips to help you design a perfect display:

1. Keep it simple. The aim should be to attract attention from afar, not to bombard people with information. Think less is more.

2. Put your logo at the top. Adding your branding to the top third of the display will help with brand recognition as it’s the first thing people will notice in a crowded hall.

3. Use quality images. Remember, the image will be blown up to be significantly larger than you can see it on a mobile phone or computer screen, so it’s important to make sure that any images used are in the highest resolution possible. It’s also about making sure that the lighting in the image is right and that the image is in focus and sharp to look at.

4. Check the colour. If you’re after a specific colour for your display, check that you’re using the right reference. For example, Marler Haley can colour match to Pantone references to make sure that your display matches your branding.

5. Use the five second test. Passers-by will often make a decision in five seconds or less as to whether they want to talk to you. So, in that time, can they easily tell who you are, what you do and why they should come and talk to you?

Marler Haley have a number of options available for businesses to help design banner stands and displays. From a free online artwork creator tool with over 200 templates to choose from to artworking help and a full graphic design service.
