DAVENTRY builder M J Parratt & Son has scooped two prestigious Master Builder Awards, taking the prize for best Large Renovation and Best Commercial project in the Federation of Master Builders’ (FMB) Eastern region.
Now in its 13th year, the Master Builder Awards continues to be a flagship for high-quality building work. Organised by the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), the awards programme is unique in that any project entered by the builder must be backed up by the customer – giving home owners the opportunity to support those building companies that have delivered exceptional results.
M J Parratt & Son was selected by the region’s judges to win both the Large Renovation and Commercial Awards and will now go through to compete in the national finals for their chance to win the UK category title. The ceremony will be held at the Intercontinental Park Lane Hotel in London on 15 September 2017 and will be hosted by TV presenter and building enthusiast Nick Knowles.
For the Commercial Award, M J Parratt & Son Ltd picked up the prize for the demolition and reconstruction of an old timber design and production studio. The owners required a new building that would lay comfortably alongside an old stone Mill House where they live. This was achieved through the use of handmade clay bricks and lime mortar joints, providing a pleasant traditional façade.
They were additionally awarded best Large Renovation project for the work they carried out on a 1980s bungalow working hand in hand with their client, a retired architect. The work turned into a total of four extensions and saw the original bungalow completely transformed using a variety of build materials on a project that changed in design throughout the process.

If M J Parratt & Son wins the overall Master Builder Awards title, selected from all category winners, they will receive a brand new Vauxhall Light Commercial Vehicle worth up to £20,000. Their clients will also receive a cheque for £1,000 for their efforts.
