Construction work begins

THE Mayor of Milton Keynes, Cllr David Hopkins and Milton Keynes South MP, Iain Stewart were among the dignitaries attending the turf cut ceremony to mark the start of a new development; 100 Avebury Boulevard.

This exciting new development, costing around £29m is to be delivered by developer AW James and built by Galliford Try, represents a high-quality addition to the Milton Keynes office market and will offer 140,000 square feet of Category A accommodation over eight floors, as well as additional retail space and a multi-storey car park.

The Borough of Milton Keynes is now one of the fastest growing local authorities in the UK with a large, diverse and dynamic local economy with more jobs than resident workers, resulting in net in-commuting of approximately 50,000 people.

There is a significant growth in the number of people employed within the Knowledge Intensive Business Sector with activities such as media and IT, finance and insurance, legal and accounting, management consultancy and other professional services. Companies that locate in CMK benefit from a highly skilled workforce with better qualifications than the national average and it’s no surprise that MK is leading the way with technological innovation.

AW James Ltd Managing Director – Andrew Wilson said: “The main aspirations for this building are to help make a major contribution to the ongoing development of Milton Keynes and provide a landmark building of the highest quality. We look to attract some of the best forward-thinking companies in the region, who place greater emphasis on staff welfare. Alongside the ground floor retail, this building offers a series of external spaces, both shared and private, for which both staff and visitors can enjoy a landscaped and tranquil environment, whilst remaining close to their workspace”.
