Government fund for rural businesses

A NEW round of government grant funding has opened for applications providing grants for projects in England which create jobs and growth in the rural economy.

“Funding of up to £175,000 is available for up to 40 per cent of a project and is therefore a fantastic way to secure capital to enable projects to go ahead,” said Will Davies, a chartered surveyor and business consultant with Berrys.

He said the Growth Programme grants are available to farms and rural businesses who are looking to expand or diversify and are available for projects which: increase turnover and profitability, grow a business, improve productivity, allow access to new markets, develop tourist attractions and infrastructure, extend the tourism season and create jobs.

Examples of projects include investment in equipment; farm diversification; adding value to food, meat processing, milk processing and soft fruit processing.

“We are advising people to submit their expressions of interest as soon as possible to ensure they have plenty of time to complete a full application if their project is assessed to be eligible,” Will said.

“At Berrys we have a team of professionals who are experienced in successfully applying for grant funding and have the necessary skills to ensure that ideas are well represented in order to ensure the best chance of success.”
