Iconic ads still remembered

LAST year marked the 60th anniversary of Barratt Developments, a recent survey has revealed 36 per cent of people in Northamptonshire say they associate the well-known brand with the renowned 1970s helicopter advert.

The company was the first housebuilder to use TV advertising and a number of people still remember the brand for the famous ad. This series of ads featuring actor Patrick Allen and the famous helicopter turned Barratt into a household name.

Andrew Swindell, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Northampton, said: “It’s incredible to think that we have helped so many families across Northamptonshire and throughout the country. We’re looking forward to continuing to build many more five star homes over the next 60 years.”

Ensuring confidence to its buyers across the country, the national housebuilder has built more than 450,000 homes over the last six decades and is the only developer to have been given the maximum five star rating in the HBF survey for nine years running.

Barratt was founded by Sir Lawrie Barratt back in 1958 and it has rapidly grown to become the UK’s largest housebuilder, building more than 17,500 homes last year.
