THE Building Consultancy team at Lambert Smith Hampton recently completed the renovation and refurbishment of a 1890s manor house, stable block and a recently constructed residential property into ten, one-bed apartments and ancillary staff accommodation for specialist accommodation for adults with learning disabilities in Braintree.

Lambert Smith Hampton acted as project managers, principal designers and cost consultants in the delivery of the ‘one-off’ innovative project to create a cohesive environment for individualised person centred support to people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and complex behaviours.

Paul Smyth Director of Building Consultancy at the Northampton Office delivered the complex and challenging project over an 11-month programme to provide suitable housing and developing a positive scheme that would integrate with and form part of the local community.

Lambert Smith Hampton were able to deliver and design a successful scheme through analysis of client requirement and understanding the end users’ needs through detailed examination of individual tenant support plans, understanding potential triggers and developing strategies to manage these with the local authority and care provider through creative building design.
