A NEW 20,000 sq ft retail scheme is currently under construction at Upton in Northampton. This exciting new development is less than a mile west of Sixfields, where Sainsburys have their 100,000 sq ft food store and other national retailers include Argos, Next, Boots and Lidl. A NEW 20,000 sq ft retail scheme is currently under construction at Upton in Northampton. This exciting new development is less than a mile west of Sixfields, where Sainsburys have their 100,000 sq ft food store and other national retailers include Argos, Next, Boots and Lidl. The scheme forms part of the award-winning Upton residential area, with over 1,000 new homes already occupied. This latest phase of Upton is called Upton Place and fronts the main A45 Weedon Road dual carriageway and will comprise a total of 14 ground floor only retail units ranging in size from 500 to 5,000 sq ft. These are in addition to the 5,500 sq ft anchor food store that is now under offer to a national convenience food retailer. The units are expected to be of interest to a mixture of local needs/convenience and destination type retailers and letting agents Punch Retail & Leisure already have a high level of interest from a wide range of local, regional and national retailers in the units. The units will be available around Easter next year, contact Patrick Punch for more details. The main scheme is in a 200-metre long terrace anchored by the food store and there is also a separate 5,250 sq ft unit proposed on the opposite side of the main entrance road in to Upton off Weedon Road that has just been released for pre-marketing. The same firm is also marketing an 11,000 sq ft two-level retail unit next door to MacDonalds which is now available freehold. The building is of modern steel frame construction with escalators linking ground with first floor and offers are invited for the freehold with vacant possession or alternatively on a new lease basis. For full details can be obtained from Patrick Punch Retail & Leisure on 01604 601800 or email
