WITH the demand for dessert parlours and the increase in the number of brands hitting the High Street, this food and beverage offer looks set to replicate the spectacular rise of the coffee shop culture, says commercial property agent Prop-Search
While relatively unheard of a number of years ago, the popularity of the dessert parlour has grown significantly and is increasingly forming a traditional make up of our High Streets. Operators such as Krispy Kreme, Kaspas and Creams have evolved to take advantage of the culture developing among young people, students and families of going out of a dessert.
Data released by The Local Data Company and British Independent Retailers Association supports this, showing that independents and food and beverage outlets opened more shops in the first half of 2017 than in the same period the previous year. This remarkable growth saw a net increase of 762 new trading stores.

Hot on its heels are brands such as Heavenly Desserts, which has acquired new premises in Northampton. An established franchisee of the brand has now opened – following an extensive shop fit – within the former Two Seasons retail store on Wellingborough Road. The store offers seating for over 100 diners who are able to indulge in its menu offering, including cookie dough smothered in Belgian milk chocolate, strawberries and the smoothest Madagascan vanilla gelato, and the Brownie Explosion – a truly chocolatey dream. Samantha added: “It is expected for demand to continue to increase, along with the profile of dessert parlours, in retail and leisure schemes as well as our High Street. So if the explosion of the coffee shop experience is anything to go by, watch out for the opening of a dessert parlour near you.”
