Works begins at university campus

WORK has begun at an extension to the existing Science and Engineering Research Support Facility (SERSF) building at Exeter University that was completed three years ago. Working in partnership with Kier, Northampton-based Briggs & Forrester will provide the mechanical, electrical and public health services.

The facility will provide an additional two labs, CTR rooms, offices and seminar rooms for the university to increase the research capabilities. This extension will also provide additional office accommodation to the increased number of lecturers and professors.

Briggs & Forrester will provide the building services as well as interlinking the services with the site wide systems, while maintaining the integrity of the installations to the existing SERSF building during the construction period.

Services include gas, domestic services, deionised Water, CO2 and compressed air, ventilation, fume extract, chilled water, DX cooling, controls, above ground drainage (including lab drainage), generator Installation, mains distribution, general power, CCTV, Lighting, Access control, Fire alarm, Intruder Alarm, Lightning protection, PV installation, Data, Refuge alarm and Mechanical wiring.

Briggs & Forrester commenced on site in May and are due to complete the project later this year.
