NATIONAL recognition has put the icing on the cake of several years of growth and expansion for Northampton-based recruitment specialist The Graduate.

Founded by Christine Newman eight years ago, The Graduate works with clients and candidates across the UK focusing on the graduate market, and the company has grown steadily, with a further appointment expected to be announced shortly.

It was recently nominated for, and won, UK Graduate Recruitment Company of the Year by the CV Magazine awards. Having been nominated by a client, The Graduate then had to provide the judges with further testimonials from a range of clients and candidates to support the nomination.

Christine Newman said: “It was totally unexpected. We don’t put ourselves forward for awards, but a client had nominated us without our knowledge, which was a wonderful surprise. We were proud to get some lovely testimonials from other clients, which led to us winning the award against some big players from across the country.

“We are obviously all very proud of the award, but it’s all due to the support and loyalty we have had from our clients, particularly local businesses, over the past eight years or so.

“Although we work nationally, we are always keen to retain and bring talent into this area to help make the local economy stronger. That has been our focus and that’s been key to our growth and expansion.”

The Graduate has a good track record of attracting and matching high-quality candidates to a diverse client base, providing a bespoke service that is tailored to individual needs.

“Part of the reason why we are delighted to be able to announce our own good news is that we are feeling very positive about the local employment market at the moment,” added Christine Newman.

“It has been a challenging year for many businesses, with the referendum decision causing a lot of uncertainty, but we really don’t see negativity out there. There’s a strong recruitment market and lots of good opportunities available, and we want to focus on that rather than the negativity we hear so much in the media.”
