The construction Industry has experienced a boom in recent years and the levy is aimed to further boost and compliment this shift.
The new scheme will introduce an apprenticeship levy that will be collected from all employers with a pay bill in excess of £3m. The levy will be set at 0.5 per cent of the pay bill and there will be a £15,000 allowance. For example, an employer with a pay bill of £5m will need to pay a £10,000 levy.
The Levy sum works out as a percentage of your pay bill, e.g. 0.5 per cent x £5,000,000 = £25,000. The apprenticeship allowance will then be £25,000 – £15,000 meaning you will need to pay a £10,000 levy.
Employers paying the levy will be able to use this payment to fund apprenticeship training from Colleges graded satisfactory or better, which includes Moulton. There will be the opportunity for employers to get back more than their individual levy payment if training sufficient apprentices.
