THE culture within the working environment plays a huge part in a business’s success and its ability to deliver the right results and achieve its goals. It also plays a part in recruitment, you want your employees shouting from the roof-top what a great employer you are and why they love working for you in order to attract the best candidates.

The Right Cultural Fit

As an employer you need to understand what these candidates are looking for and what matters to them as an employee. After all, if you find the perfect candidate who is the right cultural fit for your business, but they do not feel the same, the process won’t work.

A lot of employers believe career opportunities are the primary factor to attracting and retaining talent. However, what a candidate is actually looking for is:

* Level of collaboration

* Remuneration packages

* Transparent decision making

Shared Values

Recruiting the right people makes it easier to encourage your ideal culture, so target individuals whose values are consistent with your own during the recruitment process. Ask about their motivation and the type of culture they’re seeking in a new role. Identifying this early enough will go a long way to recruiting the right people who have a good culture fit, both for your business and them as potential employees.

Employee Communication

Employers must remember company culture, like strategy, goals and business size is always changing and evolving and so ensure that as your business grows your culture remains at the heart of what you are trying to achieve. It should be communicated to your employees, they should be able to contribute to their own culture and voice what is important to them.

And finally, be open about your company’s culture when you are recruiting!
