IN less than two years, the Northamptonshire Enterprise Hub (NEH), launched in 2012 by Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership (NEP) and the Library Service, has met with more than 700 aspiring entrepreneurs and supported the creation of over 50 new businesses.

The comprehensive programme offered by the NEH is available right across Northamptonshire and comprises a suite of business information resources, free workshops and regular networking events as well as one-to-one support.

Last year, the programme received national recognition when the Library Service won the EDGE Award for Innovative Social Impact for its work in providing business support in partnership with NEP.

With additional funding subsequently awarded to the Library by Arts Council England, which is being matched by NEP, there is now an opportunity to further improve and grow the programme and meet local demand from those considering self-employment and/or planning to start a new business.

In order to fulfil the needs of Northamptonshire’s new generation of business entrepreneurs, NEP and the Library Service are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual to fulfil an additional role within NEP’s business start-up team.

The remit of the Business Support Advisor will be to engage and support people through one-to-one and small group activities, to enable them to explore self-employment and make the journey into starting up their own business.

As part of these activities there will be a strong emphasis on the provision of focused support for key groups of customers including young people. In addition, the Business Support Advisor will provide an important function in building capacity, knowledge and confidence amongst library staff in relation to providing business information and support.

The role will be for a fixed-term period of 12 months commencing 1st April 2014 and will be based part-time at NEP and part-time at local library locations.

Please send CV and covering letter to by 9am on Wednesday, 5 February 2014.
