Reaping the rewards of training

YOU may have heard the expression ‘the only thing worse than training your employees and having them leave is not training them and having them stay’ – Henry Ford, Founder Ford Motor Company.

Not enough employers train and develop their teams but those that do reap the rewards.

NITAL is a local training provider and charitable organisation established in October 1969. Over the last 50 years we have trained thousands of apprentices who have become directors, managers and key individuals within business. In October 2015 we moved to our purpose-built training facility in Kettering where we have a range of engineering and manufacturing equipment used for both apprenticeship and short-course delivery.

Our apprenticeship delivery model ensures learners are in small classes, averaging 12 for practical sessions and no more than 18 for knowledge development. Business Administrator, Customer Service and Team Leadership/Management delivery is bespoke to each employer but all apprentices, irrespective of programme, will be visited in the workplace regularly to track progress and monitor development. We also utilise an electronic portfolio system you can also log in and see how your apprentices are developing at any stage of their programme.

Apprenticeships are for anyone aged 16 and above and NITAL supports apprenticeship delivery to both new and existing staff. Nationally, huge numbers of apprenticeship starts are existing employees, employers can access apprenticeship funding and use their levy pot for these individuals.

A good example of this is new partner Unilever who are using NITAL for the delivery of apprenticeships for new and existing staff.

A Unilever director said: “Thanks once again to the NITAL team for helping to set up the new scheme, linking it to the levy, and helping us with the selection of our new apprentices. It has gone really well so far. Both the Unilever team and our new apprentices are really pleased with the structure and content of this new programme. We look forward to great success.”

We have always had strong ties with local businesses and boast high success rates above national average and an Ofsted Good Grade across all areas of the business. We are a member of Group Training Associations England and hold direct claim status for the delivery of qualifications reinforcing the high levels of programme delivery.

If you would like to visit our facility in Kettering or would like to have an informal conversation at your business we would be happy to come and see you and discuss how we can support your training needs.
