OPPORTUNITIES to work with new and existing customers across the United Kingdom are the driving force behind exciting development plans at HARTING.

The Brackmills-based enterprise already has a thriving business through the development, manufacturing and sale of electrical and electronic connectors, backplanes and cable harnesses.

Managing Director Peter Hannon said: “We already work with a wide range of customers in different market sectors and believe we can offer total interconnectivity solutions to help each improve their performance and profitability.”

The German family-owned company has had a presence in the United Kingdom since 1980 and will celebrate 25 years on Brackmills in 2015. The company, based in Caswell Road, was one of the first on the estate and Peter has been an active supporter of the Brackmills Business Improvement District (BID). He has only recently resigned from the BID company after first getting involved with the estate’s business association in its early days. Peter, who was one of the BID company’s founding directors and took on the treasurer’s role, said: “I thought it was time to move on and bring in fresh ideas for the BID company’s second term. I am proud of what has been achieved with the BID company on Brackmills, but there is more to do. ”

Looking to the future, HARTING plans to offer increasing total interconnectivity solutions to its current and future customers.

Investment in transportation and energy infrastructure is on the increase in the UK.

Peter said: “HARTING plans to develop the business by working closely in the UK with customers to design and deliver total interconnectivity solutions for their business. Smart Factories and the Internet of Things are becoming reality and locally we can be an integral part of that development.”

The forward-thinking company looks at ways of adding value to its products. The 100-strong workforce at Brackmills includes a team developing and manufacturing products like cable harnesses, box builds and backplanes used by clients in these highly specialised sectors.

Peter said: “Our growth across these sectors means we need to invest in not only new products and services but people to ensure we can continue to deliver innovative solutions to these markets..

“We work in a highly competitive global market so we need to ensure we can meet the demands of our customers through ongoing investment in our products, facility and our people.”
