It later sold laser machines locally to schools that were showing a growing interest in design and technology.
CTR Lasers started as a family business in rural Northamptonshire selling laser machines to industry.
It later sold laser machines locally to schools that were showing a growing interest in design and technology. During discussions with the schools it became apparent that there was an opportunity for an ambitious company to not only supply the local schools network but the education sector as a whole with UK designed and manufactured laser machines.
The education sector opened up and CTR Lasers up-scaled the business by moving to larger premises on Salthouse Road on the Brackmills Industrial Estate, which has been transformed with the new Business Improvement District (BID).
This is an active, business-led partnership that works with the council to define quality services and standards throughout the Brackmills Estate and enabled the business to invest extensively in new machinery and employees.
The new location in Northamptonshire proved an ideal setting with excellent road networks to reach every corner of the country.
Inspired by increased sales and supported by an Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership grant, a regional grant through the HSBC bank and the Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce, the business was able to make the most of the opportunities.
Laser cutting and engraving technology have been sold to a number of sectors including leather goods, aerospace, woodworkers, car manufacturers, puzzle makers, architectural model makers, jewellers, rubber stamp makers, wedding suppliers, shipbuilders, craft suppliers, retailers offering personal branding and price tags, craft suppliers, trophy makers, sign and clothing manufacturers.
In fact, the range is so extensive that the CTR Concept to Reality programme will design bespoke machines in addition to supplying its standard range of machines to suit requirements.
