FOR branded food and beverage packaging manufacturer Scyphus, a major investment in a state-of-the-art press has brought new opportunities to meet growing demand for bespoke print, which includes catalogues, flyers, brochures, food and product wraps, gift and product boxes and all aspects of print finishing.
Scyphus Packaging is the latest enterprise for directors Lez Carr and Stephen Morris, who have grown a successful enterprise over the last decade.
The arrival of the five-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 74 Press means the company can now offer both carton and commercial print along with in-house printing of their branded beverage packaging products to meet requests from customers.
Lez said: “The printer fills the gap in the 100 per cent in-house production chain, and as a bespoke manufacturer, we now have control over every aspect of the manufacturing process. We can now offer even faster turnarounds without having to worry about outsourced print processing.”
The manufacturers, through their sister company, Scyphus, are already well known for the production of bespoke branded products for the food and beverage sector and, in particular, branded paper cups.
The European class printed packaging solution is going to be at par with their existing product ranges. With their decade-long experience in dealing with high-quality virgin papers sourced from mills that are FSC and PEFC certified, and their own trademarked (BioBoard TM) compostable paper, all packaging, viz boxes, cartons and large-format prints would conform to their already existing quality and environmentally friendly product guarantee.
The turn-key printed packaging solution works with customers from car showrooms to coffee shops, takeaways, delicatessen and exhibitors.
“To be a turn-key solution/product enterprise, every step of the product life cycle needs to be in our control and this investment in the printing press was inevitable,” said Lez. “The board mulled over the possibilities of full process control and we decided to go ahead with the investment as soon as possible, and there could be no year better than 2019.”
