AMBER Properties is a thriving independent property letting company in Northampton. Established in 2012 by Managing Director Ausra Uzukauskaite, it has gone from strength to strength.
Ausra gained extensive professional property experience with Hamilton Residential Lettings. When the company owner retired, Ausra took the opportunity to use all the expertise she had gained in a new business venture of her own and Amber Properties was born.
The main point of difference for her clients is Ausra’s commitment to providing a highly customer-focussed service to landlords and tenants alike. Her approachable and friendly demeanour and expertise saw her nominated as Young Business Person of the Year and as runner-up in the Northamptonshire SME Awards in 2017.
Ausra said: “It’s always a big step to start your own business. My best advice is to start in a trade or profession that you love and understand. Then it isn’t really work, it’s a pleasure.
“Really think about the ways in which you can make a difference, too. In my case it was important to be really responsive to my clients’ needs. I don’t want to provide the same service to everyone, because everyone is different.
“I have learnt a lot along the way and haven’t been afraid to take opportunities when they arise. I think that’s really important.”
For example, it soon became clear to Ausra that her landlords and tenants needed reliable, high-quality repairs and maintenance delivered by trusted local suppliers. This service has grown rapidly, to provide full renovations and conversions that are now complementing her letting business.
It became a whole new business in early 2017. Amber Renovations now specialises in property refurbishment and maintenance, helping investors and landlords achieve the best possible rental or sale returns. The company delivers carefully planned and managed repairs and maintenance, refurbishments, extensions and conversions for houses in multiple occupation.
Another important phase of the business’s growth was finding exactly the right premises. After a careful search, 152 Wellingborough Road was chosen as the ideal location and has now been fully renovated to provide a modern and professional environment.
Taking on employees was also a significant step. After a careful selection process, 2017 saw the appointment of the first full-time employee, allowing Ausra to focus on customer service and her future plans for business growth.
She is now planning to enter into a whole new area with one of her clients and they are busy putting the finishing touches to their plans.
