Foundation aims to help county’s rising young stars

Wanted… Young sportspeople, musicians, actors and dancers who are looking to fulfil their dreams.

The Travers Foundation, which provides financial support to people aged 13-30 looking to develop their talent, has announced a new raft of funding to help those who might not otherwise be able to pursue their dreams in sport, creative and performing arts.

The foundation is run by a team of volunteers and every penny they raise goes directly towards helping young people in Northamptonshire, Rutland and Leicestershire.

It is looking to support sport’s rising young local stars by funding their coaching and competition costs. The foundation is also willing to fund live video performances and studio time for musicians and to help with the coaching and production outlay of actors, dancers and producers.

“As we emerge from the pandemic, young people are now playing catch up across sport, creative and performing arts,” said the foundation’s chairman Terry Forsey. “Our work is essential to help them get back on track.”

The foundation has spent almost £250,000 funding more than 600 young people since it was founded in 2012.
