A warm welcome

IT’S almost Gerry and Bob Rendle’s 25th anniversary at The Stags Head.

IT’S almost Gerry and Bob Rendle’s 25th anniversary at The Stags Head. Rewind 25 years and their first step was to ensure that the atmosphere at the Great Doddington pub was as warm and welcoming as possible. Then there was the food and the surroundings to perfect, and awards and accolades have been collected along the way to convince Bob and Gerry that the decisions they made were the right ones. The pub is now run by the couple’s daughter Kelly Rendle, who ensures the welcoming atmosphere and standards continue. The Stag’s Head was originally a coaching inn and was built in 1693 but still retains the feel of a welcoming venue, complete with good food, wine, beer and first class service. Gerry Rendle said: “We knew exactly what we liked and didn’t like about pubs and we set about making The Stag’s Head somewhere we would want to visit. It’s about training the right staff and creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere so our customers want to return.” “We’ve always made sure we get to know our regular customers and make those that visit less frequently also feel most welcome”. Head Chefs Glenn and Len are among the best there are, and the team at The Stag’s Head create a menu that entails home-cooked food – traditional and contemporary. Various menus are available to view online, including there are dairy and gluten free menus, buffet, barbecue and party menus. Business customers can take advantage of pre-ordering by phone or email, so that they can relax and enjoy their lunch hour when time is of the essence. The Stag’s Head also caters for private functions, birthday parties, family celebrations , wakes, barbecues or buffets from 25 to 200  people either in their beamed restaurant, cellar restaurant, lounge or garden bar. The pub is also situated very close to the new Nene Valley Crematorium, so is perfect for family and friends looking for a venue to hold their wake or ideal for family and friends looking for a venue in which to meet up before or after the service.
