Enjoy some classic dishes

THE team at the award-winning Palmichael work hard at ensuring the restaurant is the place to meet whether it is to talk business, a night out to celebrate with friends or simply a good catch up over lunch.

The best quality Italian and British ingredients are used to create the dishes which helped The Palmichael win Carlsberg UK Northamptonshire Food & Drinks Awards Restaurant of the Year in 2016/2017 and for the second time in 2018/2019. And it doesn’t end there; this year their young chef David Smith is through to the finals of Booker Young Chef of the Year.

The awards reflect the team’s passion for food and service which has been earned through 38 years’ experience at the restaurant in Burton Latimer’s High Street.

Maria Walker said: “It is very important to us that we offer new exciting ideas but continue to build on the years of experience we have – excellent customer service and fresh-tasting food remain our priorities.”

Chef Michael Palmiero and the team are continually developing new dishes which is shown on their quarterly wine tasting evenings, the next event is on Tuesday 20 August; for £49.00 per person diners will enjoy a delicious six-course tasting menu with six different wines to match the beautiful regional food of Marche, better known as Lazio, Abruzzo, Tuscany and Emilia Romagna. The evening starts with a glass of bubbly and traditional warm stuffed olives with an introduction by special guest speaker Andy Morris from Berkman wines; then a regional bruschetta with chef’s homegrown figs is served with a glass of crisp Verdicchio; for the fish course a delicate monkfish tail is wrapped in pancetta with Italian vegetable and olive tapenade with a glass of chilled Verdicchio Classico Superior; followed by a traditional pasta course with home-made pappardelle, fresh mussels with chilli, garlic and lemon served with a glass of San Lorrenzo Conero; the main course follows with a typical style porchetta which is a slow-roasted pork belly with sauteed peas and broad beans, oven-baked rosemary potatoes and pork jus accompanied with a delicious glass of fruity Montepultiano d’Abruzzo; to finish the meal a wonderful light orange panna cotta with blood orange sorbet served with a glass of Pecorino Vellodoro is the perfect ending to the meal.
