EXPERT knowledge and training are often most effective when delivered by those who have a wealth of hands-on experience.
Westward Training Limited, a specialist first aid and manual handling training company was founded by Nick Ward several years ago to provide in-house training for local home care providers, nome-carers, nursery workers and childminders.
Nick has a background in the military, Metropolitan Police Force and as a traffic officer on the M1… so plenty of real life hands on experience delivering first aid, and he has been a qualified Instructor since 1987.
Originally, the company was setup to provide training for domiciliary carers but as the legislation required by CQC and Ofsted, has increased, Westward now provides courses for personal assistants, au-pairs, nursery school workers, childminders and nannies.
From April of this year the firm is rolling out bespoke courses for any businesses in Northamptonshire with first aid training needs, having already completed training for a swimming club, a private golf club and a solicitors office.
Courses can be standard First Aid at Work, Basic Life Support, Manual Handling of People, or they can be more specialised such as Anaphylaxis Awareness. All courses are priced individually and very competitively and prices are available on application.
“I have noticed lately more companies are buying AED Defibrillators for their offices, which is fantastic as they are literal lifesavers, but many staff are never trained in how to use them which sadly defeats the objective. We run a half-day course that includes AED Training,” said Nick.
All courses can be carried out at Westward Training’s impressive facilities in Wellingborough or can be run at clients’ own site. Courses are run for a maximum of 12 people.
“As well as basic training, we also run annual refresher courses – a crucial part of workforce development and in meeting both CQC or Ofsted requirements,” added Nick.
