ASPERS Casino is encouraging the people of Northampton to support Strictly Northampton contestants in beating last year’s fundraising total for the Cynthia Spencer Hospice. The casino has supported the charity for the past two years and is hoping to raise more than £43,106 by asking Strictly followers to donate by texting DANC34 followed by their chosen amount to 70070 or by visiting the contestants’ Just Giving pages. As headline sponsors, Aspers is gifting the contestant who raises the most money an exclusive VIP Gold night at the casino for their friends and family in recognition of their support for the specialist health service that cares for more than 400 patients every year, the majority of whom are from Northampton. Furthermore, Aspers’ very own Wendy Taylor is also taking part in Strictly Northampton and has been rehearsing for the past month with her dance partner Andrzej Mialkowski, founder of Step by Step dance school. “Strictly Northampton has given all of the contestants the opportunity to step out of their comfort zone, learn a new skill, and support a fantastic cause,” said Wendy. “We’re all rooting for each other to raise as much money as possible and we can’t do it without the support of our friends, family and colleagues. We hope that the added opportunity to win a VIP night at Aspers will help to beat last year’s fundraising total.” John Helm, fundraising manager at Cynthia Spencer Hospice said: “Strictly Northampton is a fantastic event not only to raise awareness of the dedicated service that Cynthia Spencer provides, but to raise crucial funds that continue to allow the hospice to give the best possible care for its patients and their families. “We value the continued support of Aspers and we’re encouraging the Strictly dancers and their family and friends to raise as much money as possible for the hospice.” Strictly Northampton will take place on 22 November at the Royal & Derngate with tickets available online at www.royalandderngate.co.uk or in person from the Royal & Derngate box office from 10am by calling the box office on 01604 624811.
