Emerald strikes gold for green initiative

Installation specialist and airport activation expert Emerald House Associates is celebrating sustainability success after being awarded a global gold standard for its extensive environmental efforts.

The company, based in Corby, specialises in the luxury display industry including supplying all the UK’s major airports with creative design projects promoting premium products to travellers.

It has received recognition with the Gold Medal awarded by EcoVadis for its significant investment in sustainability, implementing new processes, products and eco equipment.

EHA director Kelly Vickers-Earll said: “We take our responsibility to combat climate change very seriously and are extremely proud of the changes we have already achieved in collaboration with our clients, suppliers and employees.

“Everyone at EHA is elated to have achieved this prestigious accolade because there are so few companies that have achieved the gold standard sustainability rating. We are committed to continue to find new ways to minimise our carbon footprint.”

Achieving the gold sustainability rating places EHA among the top five per cent of companies assessed by EcoVadis, the world’s largest provider of business sustainability ratings. It is the latest environmental accolade awarded to the business, which is Forest Stewardship Council-accredited, has a Carbon Footprint Standard alongside a Safe Contractor certification and Safe Contractor PQQ silver award.

The business has overhauled its operations, replaced lighting systems and switched to renewable energy. It has also significantly reduced the amount of packaging used, repurposes and reuses materials and has introduced its biodegradable bubble wrap.

This is alongside sourcing sustainable materials and investing in high-tech machinery such as CNC machines, lasers and a latex printer which recyles ink, reducing waste further.

Business development manager Emerald McNamara said: “This is a fantastic achievement and demonstrates how EHA continues to put sustainability at the forefront of everything we do. It is amazing to achieve this globally recognised standard.”
