SHELLPLANT first opened its doors in Earls Barton in 1972 and its founder John Fensome is still involved on a daily basis. In the 90s, Julian Payne joined him in partnership and between them they have grown the business to now offer the industry’s market leading brands.

Their customers are a mix of small individuals through to national PLC companies and they offer the same 100 per cent commitment to customer service whatever the size.

This refreshing approach has been at the heart of the independent business since its launch nearly 50 years ago. Leading international brands have recognised the company’s exceptional service and Shellplant has long-standing partnerships with market leading manufacturers including Kubota of which they are one of only two GOLD construction dealers in the UK.

Alongside Kubota they are dealers for Thwaites site dumpers manufactured in Warwickshire, Bomag compaction equipment, Atlas Copco’s pneumatic and hydraulic tools and compressors as well as Epiroc’s hydraulic attachment range.

Julian said: “Each customer is important to us, none more so than our local clients who are the backbone of our business.”

After a successful 2018 the team are now looking forward to a busy year with demand for services and equipment expected to be high following the Government committing to increase the annual investment allowance from its former level of £200,000 to £1 million.

The firm operates out of a purpose-built facility including a showroom, trade counter and fully-equipped workshops, also offering finance packages on new and used machinery.

Along with the sales of new equipment the business also offers other services including the resale of pre-owned machines with the experienced workshop team putting their skills to use giving all used equipment an extensive overhaul.
