Nene Packaging packing a punch

SCREEN printers and convertors of corrugated board, Nene Packaging Ltd, have been spearheading a quiet revolution.

The experienced team at the Northampton-based enterprise work with clients across a wide range of sectors who are looking for anything from a simple box to a point-of-sale display for a supermarket chain.

The company, currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, is headed up by Managing Director Rob Lugmayer, who is always looking for different ways to use corrugated cardboard. The company offers a complete design to production service with clients kept informed every step of the way.

One of the latest contracts is to supply bio-degradable cartons to an organic fruit grower.

“The client wanted to replace the current plastic punnet with an eco-friendly alternative and we were able to design and come up with a cost-effective solution,” said Rob, who works alongside his wife Maria, the company’s Financial Director.

Rob’s creative thinking has rubbed off on the couple’s son, David, who is the company’s Sales Director. He sourced a new glue machine to take over the time-consuming gluing process of the point of sales displays and, since its introduction, the speed of assembly finishing has increased by 30 per cent.

This success led to the launch of a new business, POS-PACK Ltd which now has the contract for Nene Packaging’s carton production.

“The machine has really speeded up the process and means we can stay competitive and improve our turnaround times,” said Rob.
