Nursery needs taken care of as store keeps growing

BABIES Galore Rushden Ltd, an independently-run store stocking a wide range of nursery products, grew from the experiences of owner Wendy Cooper when she became a grandmother.

The arrival of grandson Tyler George highlighted to Wendy the lack of choice on offer to people looking for something different to solve their nursery needs.

The arrival of grandson Tyler George highlighted to Wendy the lack of choice on offer to people looking for something different to solve their nursery needs.

Clearly Wendy was not the only one looking for something different.

Since the doors opened at the store in Church Street, Rushden, in early April, there have been a growing number of customers who are delighted to find an independent store offering an alternative to the chain stores.

Customers are able to choose from a wide range of products to meet the needs of children up to 18 months old.

Free parking nearby makes the store accessible to customers with young children. The selection includes a wealth of products to meet the needs of parents with young babies from clothing to pushchairs, prams, Moses baskets and equipment for the nursery.

Traditional clothes including christening outfits and shawls for boys and girls to contemporary styles for the baby-about-town are all on display.

Wendy and her staff member Jo Langley, value the chance to talk to customers about the different ranges including Chicco and Babystyle.

“We really like to help customers try out the products like a pushchair or pram so they know it is the right model for their lifestyle,” said Wendy, who has extensive experience in the retail trade.

“We are aware that many people will be tempted to buy online or from a large retail chain but we keep our prices very competitive. We also ensure each customer gets a personal service and they can touch and feel the products so they know exactly what they are buying.”

This personal approach is making a real difference to business.

Wendy, who sold products at market stalls to test the market, believes the store’s independence means she can respond to individual requests.

Customers can order bespoke gifts including ‘nappy cakes’ created in store and, through working with suppliers and manufacturers, the prices are always competitive.

Wendy said: “Babies Galore is here for anyone looking to solve their nursery needs.”
