Drones take firm to new heights

LIKE most companies in areas of work like ours at A Charles IFM, there can be the busy, non-stop periods and there can be some quieter periods.

For us this is when people are slipping away for a summer vacation and as they are winding down for Christmas. Personally, this is my favourite time. I think it’s healthy to have a short break every now and then, especially if you are very productive people.

For us, this is the time where we all reflect on what we have achieved so far, write down what we want to achieve and generally throw up some new ideas and innovations that have been crossing our minds.

This year, while throwing around a few ideas between us on how to improve our client relations, the topic of Drones or UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) came up. Now this may sound like a bit far-fetched for a facilities management company, but we simply had to find out more. So after purchasing two of the latest drones on the market, equipped with 4K cameras and GPS systems, we set about improving our flying skills course with our team, completing close quarters, long distance and altitude Drone operating.

It was a blast. Admittedly, it was treated as a bit of a toy and just seemed like it would be really fun at first, but I was also amazed at just how good these things were. The sheer quality of the picture, the stability and the safety of them is amazing. Coupling that with a high resolution 4K camera and all of sudden you have far more than a toy, we have a completely new service to offer our clients.

Now if you are wondering exactly what one might need a drone for or why you might hire a drone operator, take a quick look on our Youtube channel, just look for AC IFM drone survey and you will find some of the videos we have uploaded. We use the drones to conduct high level roof surveys and inspections, guttering inspections, pest control monitoring, aerial photography for sites and aerial videography. The uptake on this services has been fantastic so far and its worked well for offices, leisure facilities and industrial premises. The surveys take around 20/25 minutes and negate the need to work at height for some fairly common tasks such as conducting a guttering inspection. Generally, our clients find these inspections to be very cost effective and of course we always provide our customers of the video evidence for reference and curiosity.

So if you are thinking of carrying out any works at height, perhaps give AC IFM a call on 01536 649 642 or visit our new site at: www.acifm.co.uk to find out more.
