WELCOME 2019! How time flies.
In April, we’ll be celebrating 30 years of trading in Wellingborough. Looking back, it’s clear that there has been a lot of change in the world of travel since that first day.
You can see from the pictures that we look quite different these days, and it’s fair to say that what we offer today is very different from when we started. The world around us has changed and we’ve had to change and adapt with it.
Throughout the 30 years though, we still have customers booking now who were booking with us in the early days. What’s more, we’re now finding holidays for their children and even their grandchildren, whether that is a short break in the UK, a family holiday to Europe or two weeks in Florida. We also book a range of cruises to every corner of the globe and an increasing choice of rail-based holidays.
Nowadays, we spend much of our time working on what you might describe as ‘special’ trips. Big birthdays, anniversaries, honeymoons, retirement adventures, all requiring much planning and thought, so best started early. We do say that everything starts with a conversation, so don’t worry about getting everything in place at the first attempt. What matters is getting it right, however long that takes.
Now, what has fish and chips got to do with barista-quality coffee? Well, last year I decided to upgrade our beverages offering to match the new sleek look of the office. Suffice to say, you can now enjoy a range of fresh-ground coffees while we talk through your travel plans. Espresso, cappuccino, latte, macchiato, ristretto, flat white, mocha; the choice is yours.
If coffee’s not your thing, then we have regular tea, as well as fruit teas and decaffeinated options. If you’re in a celebratory mood – and not driving home – then there’s also prosecco and white wine.
And the fish and chips? Well, when I was looking for the right coffee machine, I found a company in Yorkshire which happened to be based in Sherburn-in-Elmet. Forty years ago, I stopped there and had the best fish and chips ever. When I went to buy the coffee machine, I had to see whether the fish and chips were as good as I remembered? They were.
