Take a trip to the Moon and back

Lift off for the Cransley Hospice "To the Moon and Back" fundraising challenge

Step out to take a virtual walk to the Moon and back to help raise much-needed funds for Cransley
Hospice Trust.

The latest fundraiser which will run in April and May will encourage everyone to enjoy our beautiful outdoor ‘space’ by walking a step for every mile it takes to get to the moon and back. That’s 238855 steps to the moon and 238855 steps back again. The virtual walk launches on April 1 and the mission completes on May 31, when the steps are split across two months – equivalent to 7961 steps per day.

Anyone taking part in ‘To the Moon and Back’ will be be walking alongside the team of nurses at Cransley Hospice who walk between four to five miles, which is between 8,000 to 10.000 steps during a day shift, helping patients who need specialist end of life care.

Community fundraising manager Louise Gurney said: “Joining the virtual walk is such an easy way for people to get out and about and help themselves whilst supporting the incredible services delivered by the hospice staff.

“The more people that join the walk and fundraise, the bigger difference we can make, so we are encouraging people to buddy up with a group of friends, family or work colleagues so that you can support each other along the way. It is good to walk and talk and each small step will be one giant leap of human kindness.”

Cransley Hospice Trust is encouraging ‘Moon Walkers’ to fundraise and anyone raising at least £120 – the average cost of a nurse’s day shift – will receive a fabulous pair of fancy laces. Each participant will be able to download a digital pack of fundraising resources to help them skyrocket their fundraising and each finisher will receive a special Cransley Hospice Trust Trophy to celebrate their achievement.
