Excellent results

WE are delighted to report this year’s A-level results have yet again outperformed the UK national average with 74.6 per cent achieving A* to B grades and 89.4 per cent achieving A* to C grades. We are so proud of all our students who can now move to the next stage of their academic careers where we wish them continued success and curiosity to keep learning. We know we can rely on them to represent us well. Highlighted below are details of the accomplishments of just a couple of noteworthy scholars.

Minh Quang Dang (Vietnamese) A*A*A*A* achieved in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths and he has been accepted to read Natural Sciences at The Minerva Schools at KGI. Minh sums up his experience: “To sum up my time at Bosworth in three words; diverse, supportive and flexible, but all of that means you will have an extraordinary journey if you choose Bosworth. It has equipped me with knowledge and interpersonal skills that will benefit me for the rest of my life.”

Corey Markie (British) AAAb achieved in Biology, Chemistry, Psychology and AS Maths and she has been accepted to read Medicine at the University of Sheffield. Corey said: “Bosworth has really shaped me as a person. Over the four years that I have been here I have gained resilience and maturity. During my final year, Bosworth has prepared me for university in ways that I will forever be thankful for. From the teaching to the extracurricular activities, Bosworth has been nothing but first class. I will never forget the opportunities that I’ve been given here.” Corey ends her quote with “She believed that she could, so she did.”

Fiona Pocock, Principal at Bosworth said: “We work with students who have a wide range of abilities and from many different backgrounds at GCSE. It is particularly gratifying, therefore, to learn that in this first tranche of new-style GCSEs for English and Maths, our results at GCSE are the best ever. The students should feel very proud of themselves. They have worked hard, as have all the staff at the college and parents too, supporting them.”

Thasahari Sivakumaran: Achieved A* grades in Chemistry, Geography, History, ICT and Spanish, a 9 in English Language (which equates to an A**), an A in Biology & Physics and an 8 in English Literature & Maths on the two-year course. Thasahari said: “I really like the sense of community at Bosworth, everybody is so supportive of everyone else.”

Scholarship Tests 2018

Each year Bosworth Independent College holds GSCE and A-level scholarship tests for any students who wish to apply. This year the tests will take place at Bosworth Hall on Saturday, 10 February.

GCSE students will take a Maths, English and Science test allowing the college to assess them across a range of subjects. However, A-level students will sit a Maths and/or English and/or Science test depending on which subjects they wish to study at A-level. For example, if they are interested in humanities-based subjects they will take the English test.

100 per cent scholarships are rare but on occasion have been awarded, however, partial academic scholarships are offered against high grades. Results are fully confidential and will be available within three weeks of the test date.

All applicants are asked to complete an application form and submit their latest school report prior to the test. If an applicant is successful, an appointment will be scheduled to meet with the College Principal or Assistant Principal to discuss the offer in more detail.

Corey Markie is one of the successful GCSE scholarship students who was with the college for GCSE and A-level and achieved her ambitions of studying medicine.
