A MAJOR new £10m mixed use development is under way fronting the main A45 Weedon Road dual carriageway just west of Sixfields and close to Quinton House School. The two tower cranes that clearly mark the site are going to be a highly visible feature of the area for months to come. The 80,000 sq ft scheme is the penultimate phase of Upton Place which itself is one of the final stages of the award winning Upton development area.

The two tower cranes that clearly mark the site are going to be a highly visible feature of the area for months to come. The 80,000 sq ft scheme is the penultimate phase of Upton Place which itself is one of the final stages of the award winning Upton development area. The development will comprise some 80 private residential apartments together with a 77-unit assisted living development on upper floors. Keepmoat Homes are undertaking the scheme in conjunction with the Homes and Communities Agency and the commercial space is being marketed by local commercial property agents Punch. There are 20,000 sq ft of retail units and a proposed day care nursery at ground level. The anchor 5,000 sq ft retail unit is under offer to a national food retailer and Punch are now in negotiation with several other national and regional retailers to agree further pre-lettings on the other space ahead of its completion in May 2017. The main terrace of units adjoining the anchor unit all have a double height ground floor of over six metres which will be able to accommodate tenant mezzanine if required. There are several standard units without the double height ground floor and it is envisaged that the commercial space will be of interest to a range of different uses.
