High-profile town centre building sold

ACTING for Jersey-based investor clients, TDB Real Estate have sold the freehold interest of the highly prominent former Jewsons building at the corner of Spencer Bridge Road and Gladstone Road, just off the town centre.

The building, which totalled just under 35,000 sq ft, offered strong potential for trade counter and wholesale uses and although in need of refurbishment, it attracted considerable interest.

It was purchased by LWC Drinks one of the UK’s leading soft and alcoholic drinks wholesalers for a rapidly expanding distribution and wholesale facility in Northampton.

Chris Drummond, Director of Northampton and Milton Keynes based property consultancy TDB Real Estate, said: “The extent of interest we received throughout the marketing campaign was incredibly strong but that is understandable given the enormous potential that the location offered for trade counter and wholesale uses. Indeed, it is difficult to imagine many better locations in the town given the extensive amount of vehicular traffic and ease of access that the location offers.

“With so little good-quality stock in the market there is considerable pent-up demand from occupiers wanting similar property throughout all size ranges, but especially on a freehold basis. As a result, we are able to achieve exceptionally strong prices.”
