Property title split comes with caveats

At Borneo Martell Turner Coulston Solicitors, with such applications we will prepare a transfer document which detail exactly what part of the property is being taken out of the original title and what rights are to be granted to the part being sold or transferred.

The important addition here is plans. Any plans submitted need to show exactly what is going to remain as part of the original title and what will become the new title. These plans need to be detailed and follow the Land Registry’s requirements. Therefore, it is recommended these are drawn up by a surveyor or architect and the freeholder instructs a surveyor or architect early on.

This process can be complex and it is recommended you enlist the help of an experienced solicitor or conveyancer to do this for you.

For advice or assistance on this or any other property matter, contact solicitor Mohammed Rahman (pictured top) at or Kathryn Frisby (above), partner and head of residential conveyancing, at . Or call the property team on 01604 622101.
