Ukraine appeal: Brackmills businesses show their support for aid initiative

Sara Homer, Chief Executive of Brackmills BID, launches the Northampton Supports Ukraine Appeal with John Sheriff, of Goodwill Solutions

Funding, food, medical supplies and baby clothes… just a few of the items businesses on Brackmills are donating to the Northampton Supports Ukraine appeal.

The appeal, to support people in Ukraine and refugees in Poland, is being led by Northampton-based logistics company Goodwill Solutions and supported by Brackmills Business Improvement District, West Northamptonshire Council and other local organisations.

Brackmills BID Chief Executive Sara Homer is pictured with John Sheriff, Group Development Director of Goodwill Solutions, at the launch of the appeal.

“This is a humanitarian project that we all need to get behind and support,” she said. “Ten trucks have already taken equipment, food and other essentials over to Poland and into areas of Ukraine. We need to do more.

Each journey takes around 31 hours, with each truck making the trip costing €2,000, she added.
As well as financial donations, the Northampton Supports Ukraine Appeal is in need of first aid kits and medical supplies, clothing, tinned food, and baby products, of which the appeal is particularly short.

“Families with young babies are arriving in Poland without clothes, food and even shoes so please donate if you can,” said Mr Sheriff.

n To donate products, visit Goodwill Solutions, 1056 Deer Park Road, NN3 6R between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. Call 01604 422464 on arrival.
