THIS year, Will Aid celebrates its 30th anniversary. For the partners and staff at Borneo Martell Turner Coulston, this is a celebration for them, too.
Will Aid is a charity which raises money for nine UK charities: ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, SCIAF, Sight Savers and Trocaire. Each November, Will Aid encourages people to make their wills in partnership with solicitors who advise and assist clients to make basic wills without charging their usual fee. Instead, they invite their clients to make a donation to Will Aid.
This annual fundraising campaign has enabled the legal profession to raise over £20m for these charities and has also led to more than 300,000 people making wills.
What a year it has been for the firm, too! We are sharing in the success and pride of Will Aid. Borneo Martell Turner Coulston has participated in each campaign since 2004. Last year, it was one of over 700 firms who took part.
In this 30th anniversary year, we were delighted to hear that we have raised over £78,500 since 2004, meaning that we are the fourth highest donating firm ever. In 2017, we raised £11,890 ranking us third in the country.
The commitment of partners and staff during November each year has been the key to our success – £78,500 reflects many hundreds of wills prepared for clients over the years.
As we reflect on our year (and recover from what has just been another busy November), we remember that the money that we have raised helps to support the most vulnerable people here in the UK as well as around the world.
