A taste of the best the county has to offer

WHEN there is so much good food and drink around, it’s wise to make the most of it, and Kettering Park Hotel and Spa certainly offers guests a taste of Northamptonshire.

WHEN there is so much good food and drink around, it’s wise to make the most of it, and Kettering Park Hotel and Spa certainly offers guests a taste of Northamptonshire.

Already proud of its Chef’s Table spread – a selection of cold meats, fish and accompaniments that can be chosen as a starter or main course in the hotel’s restaurant – the kitchen and bar teams also call upon an even greater variety of local produce.

Brixworth pate travels just 12 miles to grace the menu, ham is supplied by Houghton Hams and an extra touch of flavour can be added from a range by The Pickled Village’s handmade chutneys and jams. In the bar, Warner Edwards Harrington Dry Gin is always a favourite, and Saxby’s Cider is just as popular.

From slightly further afield, most of the restaurant’s meat, in particular the grass-fed lamb and steak, comes from Aldens in Oxford, while a new starter of Melton Mowbray pork pie is about to be added to the menu. The pork pie will be served with local pickles and carved at the table.

General Manager Andrew Hollett said: “We are proud to support as many local producers as possible, simply because there are so many excellent products out there for our chefs to work with.

“The restaurant is one of the highlights of the hotel, popular with guests and non-residents. There’s a log fire which gives it a warm and welcoming feel in the colder weather but there’s also the al fresco dining area, which is a beautiful place to enjoy dinner or a drink when the weather is warm enough. Hopefully, that will be coming into its own very soon.”
